ABOUT
Randy Lemus has been a part of the South Mill family for the past three years. Randy was born in Ojo de Agua in Guanajuato, Mexico and migrated to the United States with his family when he was six years old. They lived in Delaware the first year and then moved to Avondale where they have lived ever since. He remembers going to first grade and not knowing any English. It was difficult at the beginning, but he proved to be a quick learner and was able to successfully pursue an education and become fully bilingual. Randy came to South Mill in 2014, after graduating from Avon Grove High School. He worked in our Packing Department as a Floor Technician, dealing with quality and customer orders, and then an opening came up for a position in Growing Research. Beatriz Lopez, our Quality Control Administrator, knew of Randy’s interest and work ethic first hand and suggested he apply for the job. He was immediately transferred to the position and enjoys the experience of learning something new every day. Randy is also a student at Delaware Community College and appreciates the flexibility that South Mill provides so that he can work and pursue his studies at the same time. His interest in biology, particularly microbiology, has been put to practical use in his research position doing data collection and entry, as well as experiments with mushroom flies and air flow in the picking houses. Randy intends to transfer to West Chester University where he can complete his degree. Randy’s father, Rigoberto, is an Operator in our Phase 1 Compost Division, and his aunt, Maria Fonseca, and several cousins – Jose, Enrique, Luis, and Jose Manuel Lemus – all work in our Packing or Shipping divisions. When he is not working or studying, Randy likes to play soccer and enjoys running three miles 3-4 days a week.
